Hello,

I am a crossdisciplinary researcher working at the intersection of Hardware, Software and Interaction Design. I am a Ph.D. candidate at the wonderful DGP lab in the University of Toronto under the supervision of Prof. Daniel Wigdor.

I am formally educated in the areas of Applied Physics, Computer Science and Human Computer Interaction (HCI) and informally experienced in product development, and business. I take interesting physical phenomenon and turn them into novel sensing systems with applications in Mixed Reality(MR), Biosensing and Digital Fabrication. Composing concepts from different disciplines, I take pride in architecting and building systems that are grounded in strong HCI principles.

My work has received several awards, been patented and morphed into commercial ventures among other things. I'm always excited to discuss my work and ideas, if you would like to chat drop me an email - varunperumal[at]gmail.com. You can find some of my publications below and my google scholar profile here
